It’s that time of the year… time for end-of-the-year classroom awards! This time, I’ve chosen a social media theme . I call these “Hashtag Awards” (Follow me on Twitter!). There are 45 ready-to-go awards and a blank one for you to get creative with! They’d be perfect for upper graders, who think they’re too cool for the rest of the fun, cheesy elementary school stuff. I recently heard about a cool promotion SeaWorld is doing for teachers. Here’s the explanation from the website:
“The education staff at SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment invites you to visit your local SeaWorld park and let us help inspire you. For several years, SeaWorld has offered a complimentary teacher pass for some teachers located in Florida, Texas or Southern California where our parks are located. The pass provides you with complimentary admission to the park and access to our education team to help you incorporate our knowledge , passion and experience with marine animals into your classroom.
Each park has different eligibility requirements, so click on your local park to find out more. And when you visit our park, seek out our education staff located at many of the animal exhibits or ask to visit our education departments and we’ll be happy to share how we can help incorporate marine science education into your classroom.”
Tickets valid in 2014, but some parks do the program every year. Some parks require an earlier registration for the ticket, so check the website using the links above.

Chick-Fil-A
On May 7th (2013) from 10:30AM – Close, participating Chick-Fil-A locations across the country will be offering up a free chicken sandwich to all educators, teachers, faculty and staff with a valid school/teacher ID. Please note that my friend personally called several Chick-Fil-A locations across the country to verify participation – some were not participating at all, one was participating on May 10th instead of May 7th and one location was offering a free small milkshake for the entire week. With that being said, it would be a good idea to call your local Chick-Fil-A to verify participation.
New York & Company
Through May 8th (2013), New York & Company is giving all nurses and teachers 30% off any in-store purchase (note that you must show a valid form of ID to receive the discount like a badge, paystub, business card etc.) Check out the New York & Company Facebook page for more information
