Here’s a grammar practice book I put together to squeeze in a little more grammar during the holidays. Each day (there are 9 days’ worth) the students read part of the story and do some simple grammar exercises with the passage. Then they are asked to illustrate the passage (built-in fast finisher for your quicker students). I’m doing these as daily warm ups, but it’s go well pretty much anywhere I think. Happy holidays!

NOTE: A second grade teacher emailed me about her experience with this packet. She said her kids were fine on everything but the first page, which was a little bit hard for them. She says the rest of the pages will be the perfect challenge for them, as well as upper grades.
5 Fat Turkeys
5 Fat Turkeys are we,
We slept all night in a tree,
when the cook came around,
we couldn’t be found,
and that’s why we’re here, you see.
Here’s a video it you want to hear the tune…
This Old Road
This old road is hard and bumpy,
our new turkey’s wild and jumpy,
driver, driver, not so jerky,
Or you’ll make us lose our turkey.
Sorry, I couldn’t find the tune anywhere on the internet, and I’m not the greatest singer…
Here’s another great collection of Thanksgiving Songs.
Still need practice with evens and odds? This is a good practice activity using dice. Kids roll two dice and they color in odd or even depending on the number they roll (see directions on sheet). Nice math worksheet for lower grades. Happy holidays!

Print one of these pages for each player. Players roll two dice and have to color the sum on their Mayflower (as well as write the addition problem on their paper). First to color the entire thing wins! Simple and fun Thanksgiving game for practicing math (especially for lower grades)! Click here for the printable PDF: Mayflower Dice Game PDF

It’s never too early for kids to start learning algebra concepts. Teaching 6th grade, I always used pictures to teach algebra, because (for some reason) it was easier for the kids to have a picture in a math problem than a letter. So here’s to early algebra learning! So here’s a simple addition worksheet and a multiplication worksheet to practice with!
