About Squarehead Teachers

Well, I’m a travel loving, cookie eating, bright color obsessed teacher who just can’t get enough of blogging or Photoshop. I’ve taught various grades from Kindergarten to Undergraduate courses in both in the United States and in China, teaching everything from dance and PE to English and math. I come from a family of educators, and believe that all teachers (public, private, charter and home school) are grossly under appreciated and deserve a little extra help. I started my Squarehead Teachers blog in August 2012 with the hope that I can be that extra little help that makes teachers feel a little more loved!

Freebies For Teachers (Various Companies/Stores)

I just got this in an email from a friend, and thought I’d share it with you! Who doesn’t love freebies, right!? (Confirm these deals with your local store just to make sure it applies in your area.)

Chick-Fil-A

On May 7th (2013) from 10:30AM – Close, participating Chick-Fil-A locations across the country will be offering up a free chicken sandwich to all educators, teachers, faculty and staff with a valid school/teacher ID. Please note that my friend personally called several Chick-Fil-A locations across the country to verify participation – some were not participating at all, one was participating on May 10th instead of May 7th and one location was offering a free small milkshake for the entire week. With that being said, it would be a good idea to call your local Chick-Fil-A to verify participation.

Land Forms Tortilla Map

Here’s a cool idea I saw recently: After learning all about the different land forms in the US, one teacher had each kid make a map of the USA using permanent marker on a tortilla and then adding marshmallows, Twizzlers, brown sugar and frosting. Cool, huh!?land forms on a tortilla copy

Learn How To Draw

Ok, let me be real with you. I’m not a great artist… not even close. But that doesn’t mean I can’t teach kids to enjoy drawing. Here are some links to pages to help you with this endeavor:

Station 21- Sneetches Frankfurter RoastI recently learned about an awesome Dr. Seuss-inspired field day planned and organized by Patti, an elementary school PE teacher. Here is the last of her 21 stations:
