About Squarehead Teachers

Well, I’m a travel loving, cookie eating, bright color obsessed teacher who just can’t get enough of blogging or Photoshop. I’ve taught various grades from Kindergarten to Undergraduate courses in both in the United States and in China, teaching everything from dance and PE to English and math. I come from a family of educators, and believe that all teachers (public, private, charter and home school) are grossly under appreciated and deserve a little extra help. I started my Squarehead Teachers blog in August 2012 with the hope that I can be that extra little help that makes teachers feel a little more loved!

Pirate Treasure 1 (Counting Coins)

Pirates collect treasure… especially money. So naturally, they have to learn to count it! This free printable is a simple page where students count pirate treasure (coins). Super easy. I’ve even made you an answer key this time. 🙂

Favorite Game (Paragraph Writing Graphic Organizer)

Paragraphs are so basic that sometimes we as teachers want to zoom right through them and get on to essays. But good essays are made of good paragraphs, and the more  paragraphs you have together, the more important it is to organize your thoughts properly. For this reason, I’ve built a few paragraph organizers to help you focus on the important pieces (transitions, introductory sentences, etc.). I’ve intentionally chosen topics that won’t be hard for kids to write about (there’s no “right” answer) so the content won’t distract them from focusing on proper paragraph construction.

favorite game STICKER

The first one is about their favorite game to play. For the supporting sentences, kids could write about 3 aspects of the game, 3 reasons they like playing, etc.

End of the Year Awards (#Awards for Upper Grades)

It’s that time of the year… time for end-of-the-year classroom awards! This time, I’ve chosen a social media theme . I call these “Hashtag Awards” (Follow me on Twitter!). There are 45 ready-to-go awards and a blank one for you to get creative with! They’d be perfect for upper graders, who think they’re too cool for the rest of the fun, cheesy elementary school stuff. (Also check out my other collection of end-of-the-year awards!) Here are a few awards from the collection:

Teacher Appreciation Poster Idea – Cinco de Mayo Theme

My friend recently shared this picture with me:

Teacher Appreciation Week - Cinco de Mayo

Their school celebrated teacher appreciation week the same week as Cinco de Mayo. I love how the parent who helped coordinate this poster combined the Cinco de Mayo and teacher appreciation themes! And what kid can resist taking a picture with a fake mustache!? 🙂

Send me photos of fun teacher appreciation ideas! Email them to squarehead teachers at gmail dot com.
